: So, Phil was indeed the original model? That figures. While reading Gerry O's post, I immediately made the inevitable mental comparison between those two songs! One difference I can see between the way Preston played Hill, and the way Phil might have, is that Harold Hill's eventual reformation might have come off as being a tad less convincing to those of us used to Phil's "smoothie" persona!
