: I am a collector of Cleveland Indians memorabilia and recently acquired an interesting baseball. On the baseball is printed the following:

: "Opening of 1936 Season at Cleveland between Cleveland & Tigers. 1st Ball Pitched by Joe Louis; caught by Jack Benny; batted at by Mary Livingstone, lost bat & fell."

Now that is neat.. I would check with the Indians, the Baseball Hall of Fame or the Cleveland Plain Dealer.. I wonder if the was the opening of the Big Ballpark there which was built intending to attract the 1936 Olympic Games I think.
: I wanted to see if any of you have any information about this event or whether you may even have any pictures from that day (April 14, 1936) from fan magazines or any other sources. Mr. Benny was in Cleveland on April 12, 1936 and recorded his show from Cleveland ("Ah Wilderness" episode).

: Thank you for you help! Bill Henry
