: : I have to disagree with enjoying Dennis sing his songs and often times try to skip over them as well as his predecesor Kenny Baker. They were both fine singers (I find Dennis a better performer than Kenny)but the songs are too old fashion for me.
: True, some of Dennis' songs could border on the "schmaltzy, old-fashioned" side, but he also sang some GREAT tunes.
: I especially like the shows where Dennis sings numbers from Lerner & Loewe Broadway musicals. ("Almost Like Being In Love" from "Brigadoon","On The Street Where You Live" from "My Fair Lady" and others).
: For some reason, Lerner & Loewe songs seemed to agree with Dennis.
I remember listening to some shows on a walkman while gardening, shortly after Dennis' passing. I had the good fortune of being able to interview him, and was always impressed by his strength and positive attitude even in the face of ALS. (Take a look in our photo gallery of Magazines for an article where Dennis talks about his brother chatting amiably with him while a Priest was giving him last rites.)
One of the shows had Dennis singing "I'll Be Seeing You". I am not normally affected this way, but I found myself crying as I listened, feeling like I'd lost a personal friend.
