: : : : This message is for anyone. Do you guys believe that Mary wasn't all that nice? I have read conflicting reports. She seems so lovely and personable in the shows.
: : I think Mary had different traits that were good and bad.I think she was a consumate performer when she had to be and probably a gracious host. She was faithful to Jack during their entire marriage. The negative traits(based on my reading)would be her cold, haughty atitude toward people she had peripheral relationships with ie.Gracie and George Burns.I get the impression that any one crossing the path of Mary was doomed. Mary appears to me to have been domineering in her marital relationship, perhaps "frigid" but I think Jack's indiscretions with other women heightened her loneliness, saddness, and isolation in later years.I feel sorrow for her but also resentment especially with her treatment of Jack in later years ie forcing their move from their Beverly Hills home.
It's true that Jack didn't want to leave their Beverly Hills home, but couldn't he have put his foot down and refused to move? He said he wasn't afraid of Mary, but sometimes I wonder.
