: Some sources say that Jack was 5'8, others say 5'10. His driver's license says 5'11. According to the Book of Lists, he wore a size 9 shoe.
: I would guess the correct answer is around 5'8. Here's why...Jack liked to weigh 151 pounds. Putting that on today's ideal height-weight charts gives you 5'6. Also George Burns and Jack look to be about the same height on Jack's TV shows. According to online resources, you can lose 1 to 3 inches in height due to age. When I met Burns in 1982, I was 5'8 and he was noticeably shorter than me...I would estimate 5'5. So it is unlikely that Burns started at 5'11 and declined 6 inches due to age.
I think Jack was a little more than 5' 8 inches in height. While he and George appear to be close in height, I have a photo of the 2 of them standing together and Jack is about an inch and a half taller, making him almost 5' 10 in. In later years he probably did lose 2 inches in height. He was certainly not 5' 11 in. as on his drivers license.
