A early writer,Conn,thought he was too important in his contributions to the early Benny broadcasts and was replaced unceremoniously and deservingly.
A little clarification on that (see the Biography for more information)...Conn actually left town without telling Jack, leaving no script for the following week's show. So Jack quickly pulled together a small team of writers (including Sam Perrin) to create the show, which they did admirably on very short notice. Such behaviour made his replacement not only appropriate but necessary.
