Then the current grandmasters:
1922 Syd Caesar
1926 Jerry Lewis
1929 Bob Newhart
1925 Johnny Carson
1937 Bill Cosby
They were the early TV 'grandmasters'. And a generation later. Our vaudvillians were in radio longer than they were in TV so IMHO TV was not their forte, they were crossovers. Except for Lewis, none of the others were really on radio, and Lewis was only because of his movies with Martin.
Based on birthdate,
1908 Milton Berle
would be the only one that *could* have been radio *and* TV, but he really started in TV, he was the old man of the box.
