Jell-O Vs. Lucky Strike

I think that the difference in commercial effectiveness is that most of Jack Benny's Lucky Strike commercials were not read by Don Wilson...they were broadcast or recorded from another studio, with guys like Basil Rysdale, "Speed" Riggs, F.E. Boone and others doing the pitching.....

...and when Don DID do a Lucky Strike commercial, I was never quite convinced that he personally smoked them....but I really BELIEVED that Don ate and enjoyed Jell-O. He just had a certain enthusiasm and conviction in his voice when he delivered those Jell-O commercials!
