: : She was Kate on "Petticoat Junction," too.

: well as the voice of Granny (owner of Tweetie Pie in the Warner Brothers cartoons), Blanche Morton on the "George Burns and Gracie Allen Show," and Pearl Bodine (Jethro's mother) on "The Beverly Hillbillies." She certainly kept busy!

In the radio days, Bea was also Mrs. Carstairs on "Fibber McGee & Molly", Eve Goodwin on "The Great Gildersleeve", Mama on "Meet Millie", the maid on "Ozzie and Harriet", Clara Bagley (and later Blanche Morton) on "Burns & Allen", Iris Atterbury on Lucille Ball's "My Favorite Husband" sitcom, plus NUMEROUS roles (most of them dramatic) on "Lux Radio Theatre"....yes, she WAS busy...and VERSATILE! Bea could play a wealthy and dignified society matron or a gum-smacking, tough gal from Brooklyn...and be 100% convincing in BOTH roles!
