I think George made his comment after the fan had walked away, or at least was out of earshot.

Something in defense of the Fein book is that it's probably the most fact-based biography. Milt's is definitely an adoring volume that's very fun to read (need to re-read it one of these days), although not very factual in places. I personally think the Marcia Borie biography is the weakest of them, as it has an abundance of factual errors, and Mary and Hickey's only contributions are the specific interviews with them which are sprinkled throughout the book.

If you're looking for written Benny-Burns stories, look for a used copy of George Burns' book "Living It Up". There's a whole chapter that's nothing but stories about Jack.
