: : Which episodes of Jack's radio program do the rest of you find most appealing? I prefer shows from the Lucky Strike period, particularly in the '40s, and am generally most fond of those in which the Colmans appear. "Ronnie" is such a counterpoint to Jack, he makes a perfect foil! (I must admit, though, I recently listened to an mp3 of the 4-8-51 ep where the IRS pays Jack a visit, and I hadn't laughed so hard in a long time!)
: The IRS show is very funny, I must admit. My favorite episodes are usually with any top notch guest star like Crosby,V. Johnson,Skelton,Welles,Colman,Stewart, Bogart,Allen,Jolson, etc.
I may be in the minority here, but my favorite
years are the Jell-O years. The show was
top-notch throughout its run, of course, but
to me the shows from the late 30s are especially
wacky and fun. The non-sequiturs fly fast and
furious, and the infectious laughter from Don
and the band seem a lot more prominent than in
later years. I also really enjoy Kenny Baker
and Andy Devine. Overall, these are the shows
at which I find myself laughing the hardest,
though it's sort of a moot point because I don't
think I've heard a bad Jack Benny Show yet.
