: I never heard a first name mentioned. In fact, the "Mr." was added when the character joined the Jack Benny show. Before that, during the WWII years, Artie Auerbach played the character on Abbott & Costello's radio program (usually as a salesman), where he was merely called "Kitzel".

Also, it is interesting to note that "kitsel" means "tickle" in Yiddish.
