: I listened to a Christmas show last night, dated 1943.
: It was the episode when Mary returns after being off
: the air for 3 weeks due to laringitis. Her maid, Butterfly,
: sounded just like Prissy from Gone With the Wind, and
: it wasn't until today that I discovered Prissy's real
: name was in fact Butterfly McQueen. Does anyone know
: if this maid of Mary's was in fact played by Butterfly
: McQueen?

Yes, for a short period during the WWII years, Mary's maid WAS played by Butterfly McQueen. Butterfly was considered sort of a "semi-guest star" on the show, and her entrance was usually met with audience applause. Just for the record, in later years Mary's maid was named "Pauline", and for a while she was played by Doris Singleton, who played Lucy Ricardo's friend Carolyn Appelby on "I Love Lucy".
