: How many of you have been introduced to movie stars,
: singers, or comics through listening to Jack's show? I
: became a huge fan of the Ink Spots after hearing them
: sing on TJBS....I'd never even heard of them before
: listening to an episode of Jack's when they guest starred.
: I was also introduced to Ray Milland and Ronald Coleman
: (I want to see "The Lost Weekend" and would like to see
: the movie Coleman won an Oscar for). Anybody else out
: there who was introduced to entertainers, thanks to Jack?
I may not have been INTRODUCED to many film stars who guested on Jack's show (mainly because I've been a classic film buff for years), but I HAVE come to realize just how FUNNY many of the so-called "serious dramatic" actors were. Actors like Ronald Colman, Claude Raines, Basil Rathbone, Vincent Price, Barbara Stanwyck, Claudette Colbert, Bogart & Bacall and others were HILARIOUS on the Benny show. I've read that big-name stars LOVED to guest on Jack's show because they KNEW that they would always be given first-class material and funny lines....Unlike some other comedy shows where the famous guest stars served merely as a straight-man/woman for the star comedian.
