: "Sunday With Jack Benny" ran from 1964-65 on CBS on Sunday afternoons, and also in syndication. Those were the days before TV sports completely took over Sunday afternoons, of course.
: Mahlon LeGrande Merrick, the musical arranger for Jack for many years, composed all of the themes for the TV programs.
Many, many thanks, Kurt...GREAT info! I don't know why, but I had a feeling that "Sunday With Jack Benny" was an afternoon show. Years earlier, CBS ran a similar "rerun" series of "I Love Lucy". While new "I Love Lucy" episodes were still being broadcast on Monday nights, CBS reran the very early episodes on Sundays (either at 5 or 6 o'clock, I'm not sure). These reruns were renamed "The Sunday Lucy Show" (not to be confused with the later "Lucy Show" series), and featured a new opening with Lucy and Desi. Thanks again for your very helpful info!
