"Goodnight Joanie" was said (time permitting) when the show broadcast from New York in the early 1940s, and only on the West Coast broadcasts. Sometimes Jack said only, "Goodnight, Joanie," others "Goodnight Joanie, be a good girl," once "Goodnight Joanie, see you real soon."
Joan Benny mentions it in "Sunday Nights at Seven."
:On some of Jack's 40's broadcasts he,on a rare occasion, says "Goodnight Joannie" to his daughter at the end of his broadcast. Was this prearranged with Joan Benny and did she wait up to hear this closing message from her Dad? Perhaps she could explain.Thanks.
