Yes, rarely did Jack and Fred resort to the cheap "dropping your pants" gag to get laughs...which somehow made it all the funnier when they DID do it!
Fred took off HIS pants on a 1948 Allen broadcast with guest Don McNeill. Don was playing M.C. on a fictitious quiz show called "Break The Contestant" and Fred played a moronic contestant who had to take off an article of clothing with each incorrect answer.
You guessed it...the last incorrect answer had Fred losing his pants...and the audience reaction was just as loud and as shrieking as when Jack did it in the "King For A Day" sketch.

Just for the record, I've heard and read that Eddie Cantor was a big user of the "drop your pants" gag to get a big laugh...and he also liked to "goose" his female guest stars for a similar audience response.
One night it backfired....Eddie made the mistake of goosing no-nonsense guest Ida Lupino, and it got a BIG audience laugh...because after he did it, Miss Lupino hauled off and BELTED Cantor, almost knocking him out cold right in the middle of the live broadcast!
