: His famous routine with three homely women who claimed to be the "Landrews Sisters" or the "Guire Sisters" (names changed over the years) was written by Conn in the 1930s for Jack's stage show (when the object of the spoof was the Boswell Sisters). Benny was performing the routine in his live appearances right through the 1960s, and did it twice on his TV programs.
I LOVE THAT ROUTINE!!!! I also saw it on a "Hollywood Palace" TV show that Jack hosted in the late 60's.
On that show, the girls were called "The Smithers Sisters" (spoof of "The Smothers Brothers") and they wore "mod" outfits and go-go boots! (Oh brother, am I dating myself!)
The actresses who played "the pretty but dumb" sister and the very overweight sister changed over the years, but every time I saw the act performed, the part of the "tough sister" was always played by the hilarious Iris Adrian.
Jack's reactions were PRICELESS in that routine!
