There is a episode in which Jack is shopping when Fred Allen comes into the store. Jack asks the clerk if he can duck down under the counter so that Fred will not see him. She says OK but get your head off the counter people will buy anything these days. If you could tell we what episode this was from the original date of broadcast I would appreciate it

That was a sketch from a two-hour special "Christmas Command Performance" broadcast from December of 1944. The show was normally transcribed in the U.S. and broadcast overseas for servicemen and women during WWII, but the annual star-filled Christmas specials were also broadcast in the U.S. as a way of bringing servicepeople and their families at home together for the holidays.

Nice work, I had looked through a lot of material and couldn't find it with the clues given. We just needed someone to think outside of the "Jack Benny Show" box! That sounds like a funny show.
