Cartoon Character with Jack Benny Voice

Postby Maxwell » Wed Aug 03, 2005 7:40 pm

Not show related but none of the other forums seems right either for this. I'm driving myself nuts trying to remember the name of the show/character. Back in the '60s(?) there was a cartoon show featuring a spy (I think) as the main character. His voice was an imitation of Jack Benny. Does anybody remember the name of it? All I remember is the character saying "Danger is my business."

Also if you remember that, do you remember who did the voice of the character?

Ahhh... That would be Cool McCool, a late 1960s character created by the original Batman artist (and co-creator), Bob Kane. Cool was voiced by the late Bob McFadden. I'm not sure whose idea it was to have the character speak like Jack, but the similarity between Cool's voice and Jack's voice is indeed quite obvious.

If you want further info, and a chance to hear Cool's "Danger is my business" catch-phrase spoken in Jack's voice -- sort of -- go here: http://members.aol.com/PaulEC1/cool.html

Some Cool McCool episodes are (were?) available on Rhino Home Video, btw.

Thank you. I feel silly for not remembering the name because of the repitition. Oh, well, somtimes the brain just kind of cramps.
