Could someone explain this to me?

I found this show on Google. It is the Jack Benny Show with guest star Franki Avalon. I'm not sure of the year.

In the commercial at the beggining, Don says the show is sponsered by Jello and they also give some kind of rice commercial. I always thought that Lucky Strike was the sponsers? Can anyone explain?

Jack Benny Television Sponsors

Postby Jhammes » Thu Sep 13, 2007 8:40 am

Jello and Jack Benny: synonymous in the early years of the radio show.
Lucky Strike would sponsor Jack from 1944-1955 on radio, and up to 1959 on television.

From 1960-1965 there would be several sponsors: off the top of my head,
that would include Lipton Tea, State Farm Insurance, and yes, J-E-L-L-O
during the 1962-63 season. There were others, I'm sure.

The days of a single product owning a program, and performer, apparently came to an end around 1960.

A lot of shows had one or two sponsors ("And now a word from our alternate sponsor...") into the '60s. The weekly series sponsored by one product that I remember was the Kraft Music Hall. I looked up when it was finally canceled: 1971.
