COMEDIAN JACK BENNY IS AWARDED TOP HONORS IN 2 POLLS OF RADIO EDITORS
Richard Crooks, Kate Smith, Guy Lombardo, Bing Crosby Also In Lead

Jack Benny has been awarded top honors in two annual polls of radio editors, whose results have just been announced by the Motion Picture Daily and the Radio Daily.
According to articles released by these two trade publications, the radio editors have indicated that they consider Benny the greatest entertainer on the air today, the Motion Picture Daily's story naming him champion of champions. A close is Bob Hope, who has made fast strides during the past year. Fred Allen is in third place.
The two dailies list almost identical results in all classifications, which are as follows:
Favorite dance bands—Sweet, Guy Lombardo; swing, Glenn Miller.
Male vocalists—Classical, Richard Crooks; popular, Bing Crosby.
Female vocalists—Classical, Lily Pons and Margaret Speaks; popular, Kate Smith.
Symphonic programs—New York Philharmonic.
News commentators—H. V. Kaltenborn, Raymond Gram Swing, Lowell Thomas.
Sports announcers—Bill Stern and Ted Husing.
Dramatic shows—[Lux] Radio Theatre, with Helen Hayes' Theatre second.
Dramatic serials—One Man's Family.
Educational series — American School of the Air, with University of Chicago Round Table second.
Programs for children—Ireene Wicker (Singing Lady).
