Archive of Jack Benny Television Program

Hello.
I was wondering why the boss of the Jack Benny Fan Club does not upload all the episodes of the television show in the collection to YouTube or some such website?

It seems a little bit silly in this day and age that to get access to the library one has to email money through the post and the videos are burned on to a DVD.

Why not just upload them all into the public domain?

I only ask because with CBS locking down the Jack Benny shows they found, the massive archive of material the Club owns is out of reach for most fans.

It's a very valid question, and something that I have been considering. The possibility of doing it in a way where we could keep some control over the files only presented itself late last year. I had it on hold pending the CBS negotiations, thinking that if we had downloads, then CBS would be less inclined to work with us for fear that giving us access would mean an immediate loss of control. And even without the downloading, there have been some nasty attacks from a particular individual on other sites claiming that I'm somehow "exploiting" the show for financial gain. Come on...we're a non-profit, and I get no remuneration at all for the time I spend on it!

So it's something still to be explored in the future, but I've got a few irons in the fire on the television shows that I'd like to see come to fruition (or at least resolution) before going in that direction. Stay tuned!
