Alternate transcription

Postby helloagain » Wed Jun 08, 2011 11:50 am

I discovered that I had 2 different versions of Jack's last 'official' radio show from 5-22-55. On the alternate another woman is reading Mary's part, a few of the jokes are different and Dennis sings a different song. I know Mary would often record her lines at home to be dubbed in later. I don't think this is a rehearsal because I hear the audience. Could this be a 'rough cut' of the show? Does anyone know or have other shows like this?
"Hey, Jackson, does Fred Allen always talk through his nose?"

"Yes, Phil. He's the only comedian who tells 'em and smells 'em at the same time!"

Jeanette Eyemann did Mary's lines for the audience. Mary then recorded her lines at home and they were edited in to the broadcast version.

So I'm figuring this is the show before the final edit, and was never broadcast this way. Looks like they not only tweaked the script but also the entire show when it was transcribed. This is a very funny show, by the way.
