Good news, folks

Postby LLeff » Thu Mar 31, 2005 10:53 pm

Hi all,

I have some exciting news. Through another generous anonymous donor to the video library, we are in the process of obtaining copies of all Jack Benny television shows from 1950 to 1954. I'm warming up my DVD burner right now...

 Great news!

Does that include the Jack subbing for Gracie Allen episode? I've wanted to see that one forever.

Yeah, and we got copies of all the Canada Dry shows along with it. April Fools!

(Sorry to anyone who's angrily disappointed...hopefully one day...)

LL - were you foolin' about the TV shows or just the Canada Dry bit?

Man, I hate this holiday, in France they just stick a fish on you when you aren't looking. Preferable to mind games (there isn't much left of mine to play with).

The whole thing. I wish it was true, but it's not. I hardly ever play April Fool's jokes, because so often they turn out to be more mean than funny. But I just couldn't resist this one with the enthusiasm over getting Jack's first television show in our video library (which is real).

There's only one thing to say to that: ....Well!

But, it's to your credit that it seems so plausible. We believe you can do it LL!

Shucks. I was consoled, however by a lunchtime thrift-store find of Phil Harris' 1958 "That's What I Like About the South" LP. Awesome cover of Phil, shirt unbuttoned, dirty fingernails and apparently drinking a mint julep straight from the shaker (OK, maybe it's one of those '50s aluminum tumblers), with a real somethin-or-other-eatin' grin on his face.

Eases the pain of not seeing Jack in Gracie drag anytime soon.
