Jack's "cold" in the spring of '43

Postby Maxwell Stroud » Sun Jul 18, 2010 6:37 pm

Out for five weeks with a cold? Is there any more to this story?
I love Orson as a replacement, especially his interaction with Phil: "Orrrrson Welllls" "Hey, Orsie..." Orson is a bit off as a comedian (until he appears in the Jack Returns episode, he'd do much better in his Orson Welles' Almanac program) but there are some great bits in there, especially with Dennis and Phil.
I just wondered if there was some personal problem that I missed in the bio's I've read. Mary also misses one or two of those weeks which adds to the mystery. I know Jack was a hypochondriac but five weeks for a cold seems a little beyond normal.
If I've told you once I've told you five times...

Jack came down with pneumonia while touring military bases in the northeast during the winter.

I seem to remember reading an old post on this board that it was rumored Jack had pancreatitis during this time. (?)

Every source I've ever seen states that Jack had pneumonia.

Go check old posts from fall/winter of 2001. Scroll down a bit, and the subject starts with, "Something I've always wondered about".

Can you provide a link? When I search using the sentence "Something I've always wondered about" I can't find any posts older than 2004.
