Verna Felton - Dennis' Mother

Just had to post to say how hilarious I think Verna Felton was as Dennis' mother. No one, but no one could -bellow- like she could. No wonder she ended up playing the "Queen of Hearts" voice in Disney's Alice in Wonderland. Her slow burns when Dennis does something ridiculous like putting mustard in her nightgown never fail to make me chuckle. In another one of those Burns and Allen cross-pollinations, she also played Gracie's mother on radio. Gave George just as hard a time as Jack.

And let's not forget her as the mother of the "Mean Little Kid" in the Red Skelton show. Those are the funniest skits Red does, in my questionably humble opinion.

She was also a major character, "Hilda Crocker," on the December Bride TV series. Hilda was Lily Ruskin's (played by Spring Byington) best friend. The show was produced by Desilu and followed I Love Lucy on CBS Monday nights.

Harry Morgan (Col. Potter of M*A*S*H fame) was also a regular on that series, playing Pete Porter, who was always telling stories about his wacky (and never seen) wife, Gladys. When December Bride was cancelled, Morgan starred in a spinoff series, Pete and Gladys. Gladys was played by Cara Williams.
