Wow! It looks to me like almost all of the Fred Allen Shows with the exception of the last one in this set are not currently in circulation. It's too bad much of it is not complete shows.

This new product will be available for shipment on approx. 2/18/2011. Your pre-order placed today will be shipped to you immediately upon our receipt of inventory from our manufacturer.

Among radio comedy's most enduring features were its running gags - and few gags ran longer, or more hilariously, than the legendary feud between two of its great masters: Jack Benny and Fred Allen. For nearly twenty years the mere mention of Benny on an Allen program was guaranteed to produce an escalating laugh - just as bringing Allen up with Benny had listener in stitches at the mere anticipation of a response.

This digitally remastered collection brings together the classic episodes that started it all - from first time the pair shared a microphone (in a skit ripe with references to Benny's musical skill), to Stuart Canin's performance of "The Bee," to the showdown that was supposed to end it once and for all.

Join Jack, Fred, and their comical cohorts Portland Hoffa, Harry Von Zell, John Brown, Minerva Pious, Mary Livingstone, Kenny Baker, Don Wilson, Andy Devine, Phil Harris, and all the regulars from both Town Hall Tonight and The Jell-O Program.

Includes rare episodes, excerpts, and a Program Guide by radio historian Elizabeth McLeod.

EPISODES INCLUDE: Town Hall Tonight 02-26-36 (Excerpt); Town Hall Tonight 12-30-36; The Jell-O Program 01-03-37; The Jell-O Program 01-10-37; Town Hall Tonight 01-06-37; Town Hall Tonight 01-13-37 (Excerpt); Town Hall Tonight 01-20-37; The Jell-O Program 01-31-37; Town Hall Tonight 01-27-37 ( Excerpt); The Jell-O Program 02-07-37; Town Hall Tonight 02-03-37 (Excerpt); Town Hall Tonight 02-10-37; The Jell-O Program 02-14-37; The Jell-O Program 02-28-37; Town Hall Tonight 02-24-37; Town Hall Tonight 03-03-37 (Excerpt); The Jell-O Program 03-07-37; The Jell-O Program 03-14-37; Town Hall Tonight 12-22-37; The Fred Allen Show 12-18-40 (Excerpt)

If most of these really are previously unavailable shows, I'm wondering where they came from....?

My understanding has always been that there was a copy of the infamous "The Bee" show that started it all amongst the donations Fred's estate made to whichever library ended up with them. Does this mean another copy has turned up, or did Radio Spirits work out something with the library?

Terry Salomonson has been working with Radio Spirits to bring out some of the shows in his extensive collection of uncirculated shows. So far they have release uncirculated episodes of Phil Harris and Alice Faye Show, The Shadow, Burns and Allen, and The Green Hornet. It would be my guess that these uncirculated Fred Allen Shows came from his collection. So far the Boston University has been reticent to make any of the shows in their collection available, but hopefully they will change their policy on this.

Hmm...interesting. I have never heard of the gentleman, but more power to him for sharing what he's got.

Thanks for the info!

He has shared quite a lot already, but he is supposed to have the largest collection of uncirculated shows in the country.

So far through Radio Spirits he has shared:

25+ Uncirculated episodes of The Green Hornet

10 Unciculated episodes of the Shadow staring Orson Welles - there were only about 20 uncirculated episodes to begin with, so he shared half of those!

8+ Uncirculated episodes of Burns and Allen

65+ Uncirculated episodes of The Phil Harris and Alice Faye Show - There were 11o available episodes and now there are 175! They are beautiful copies from Alice Faye's private collection hand delivered by her to Terry before her death.
