Belly-laugh Barton and other "youngsters"

Postby BobR » Thu May 13, 2004 4:49 pm

Just heard several episodes during some of the early '41 shows with a youngster by the name of Belly-laugh Barton who Jack wants to hire as a writer.I am curious if some of these young performers are still alive ie as the Quiz Kids (who must be in their 70s and 80s).If they are still around ,I bet they would be interesting to hear about their reminiscences .

Dix Davis played "Belly Laugh Barton", but he seems to have stopped making movies around 1940. I've found several of the Beavers. Anyone else have leads on Quiz Kids or other young actors on the program?

Belly Laugh Barton was about the ONLY child actor that I can stomach on the show (and even he was a close run thing). The rest are so affected and overly cute. I especially disliked little Carolyn Lee and the Quiz Kids. The child actors of the 1930s and 40s, including most especially Shirley Temple, make me long for the dramatic stylings of Mccauley Culkin and Gary Coleman.
