Happy Anniversary, Feud!

'Twas on this date 70 years ago (Dec. 30) that Fred Allen went on the air and after a rendition of 'The Bee' by Stuart Canin made fun of Jack's violin playing. The rest is history.

A few months after his appearance on Fred Allen's program, Stuart Canin was on Jack's show, along with Fred Allen. That was one of my favorite of the 1930s shows. And nearly 30 years later, Canin was a guest on Jack's television show.

For those who don't know, Stuart Canin was not just a child prodigy. He's had a very distinguished music career and is still performing today. He was the concertmaster and principal violinist for both the San Francisco Symphony and the San Francisco Opera, and is currently the concertmaster for the Los Angeles Opera. He was the first music director of the New Century Chamber Orchestra, which is one of the country's outstanding chamber music ensembles. He was also the concertmaster for the orchestras that performed the soundtracks for Schindler's List, Titanic, and Forrest Gump, among other movies.

The Benny-Allen feud was OK, but Jack and Fred were no Donald Trump and Rosie O' Donnell!
