Redd Fox-Jack Benny fan via Frank Nelson

I noticed that on a few Sanford and Son shows that Frank Nelson appears and relates to Fred the same way he related to Jack. Fred also repsonds to him and looks around the way Jack used to. Could this be seen as a tribute by Redd Fox to the great comedian that Jack was?

I'm not sure about that, but I wouldn't be surprised if Redd WAS influenced and impressed by Jack.

Redd was a guest on one of Jack's last hour-long TV specials. During this time, Redd was well-known for often backing out of other people's specials (including Bob Hope's) because he didn't like the script. However, reports indicate that he was very pleased with the material that he had been given for the Benny special, and that Redd and Jack got along (and worked together) very well.
