I ever earn such a seal of approval??!) 78s of Don telling "Elmer the Elephant" and Mel Blanc singing "Tweet and Toot" and performing a Daffy Duck story. You can stream or download them. Go to "Week 45" at this link:

S.S., thanks for the link. Mel gives a tour de force performance in Tweety Pie, including a brief snippet of a Maxwell-ish dying putt-putt sound. The writing is very much like it would be for radio ("I'm climbing up the stairs now").
And 'Tweet and Toot' even comes with the Billy May orchestra, which sounds like it's ready to break open with that huge brass sound, then realises it's a kid's record and has to stop.
