Fred Allen movies

Hi, gang! I woke up this morning to a treat on FMC - O. Henry's Full House. There is a movie I haven't watched since I was in the second grade, and one that I honestly hadn't even thought about since then. Being a little older now and more appreciative of "old" movies in general, I was delighted to rewatch it and recognize Marilyn Monroe, Charles Laughton, and then who should show up...? FRED ALLEN!

O. Henry's Full House will be playing again on Fox Movie Channel on April 5, 2010 at 8:00 am ET and April 24, 2010 8:00 am ET if you are an early riser or if you want to record it.

This was my first time seeing Fred Allen in a movie since I've come to recognize and love him, and I think the second or third time I've seen him acting at all (the other times are appearances on Jack Benny's show). Fred Allen's saggy eyes sure make his deadpan responses all the funnier.

Now I'm much more interested in watching more Fred Allen as opposed to just listening to him. Suggestions for other Fred Allen movies or spots on television?

I treated myself to some old movies for Christmas and I bought both "It's in the Bag" and "Love thy Neighbor" which feature both Fred and Jack. "It's in the Bag" is Fred's movie and Jack is just in one scene while the other movie expands on their radio feud. I'm sure you would really enjoy them both.

Fred Allen was a regular panelist on What's My Line from 1954-March 1956 when he passed away March 17, 1956..Before that, he had his own show, Judge For Yourself..Both have been shown on Game Show Network..
