Wanted:Copy of 1961 show.

I am looking for a film of a show that I think was aired in 1961.In it was a gal named Cousin Immy,playing banjo,a guitar player named Jimmy Bryant and another guitar player named Geo Winston.The plot of the show was Don Wilson wanted Jack to hire a hillbilly band for some reason and got Jack to audition this group.That is all I remember. I have still pic's of show and really desire a copy of same show. Thank you!

Is this the same show that shrimp scampi talked about in the "longest and loudest laugh" in the "Jack Benny Forum?" If so, this is what he said about it. It might give you a few more pointers on locating it:

I'll start - it's from the Dorothy Shay TV show, with Jack coming out playing "You are my sunshine" with the dilapidated "Beverly Hillbillies", including a sullen 9 or 10 year old girl. He finishes, introduces Remley, Bagby and the rest, gets to the girl and says "This is my wife." I was pounding the floor like George Burns had pulled a piece of lint off of Jack himself. Then he tops it by turning to an oafish 7-foot tall guy in the back and says "and this is our son".

Nope they are to different but similare shows. Dorthy Shay appeared in the hilbilly show in 1952 and it was the first show of the season. THe other one is definately in the sixties, but I'm not sure it is sixty one - I was thinking sixty three, but either way I don't think it is in circulation.

one guess is 61, another 63 - split the difference and it might be the show of April 22, 1962 and I also don't believe that one is in circulation.

Don't know if this is it, but the October 30, 1964 show has a hillbilly sketch with Connie Francis. There's a still from it in Milt Josefsberg's book.

Does this sound like the synopsis?

Jack advertises for a boarder and gets a series of strange applicants. Cousin Emmy and her Kinfolk play country music with Don for the State Farm commercial.

If so, TV tome has a (very) little information about the episode...

The good news is you have identified the show!(The crowd cheers!) The bad news is that unfortunately that episode is not in circulation and none of us have it in our collections!(The crowd groans.) The really bad news is that episode does not appear to have a major guest star, and so it is unlikely to be an episode that would be added to a "best of Benny collection." (The crowd begins to cry.) The only upside I have for you is that it might have been in the syndication package because the early sixties were well represented in that package, and someone somewhere must have taped all of the episodes in that syndication package.

By the way the only relation I have with Jack Benny is that I love him with all my heart!

More bad news, folks. I just pulled a brochure that MCA sent out which lists the titles of all 104 episodes that were in the full syndication package. I'm pretty sure the titles listed are the formal titles of the programs (e.g., "Harlow Gets a Date"). And although I may be missing it, I'm not seeing the Cousin Emmy show in question. But you never know when a 16mm of it may show up somewhere. That's how we got the episode with Stuart Canin.
