Think I tracked it down--the mistake seems to be a slight misreading of "Disney Legends" by bentrecords. The "Disney Legends" page observes that Cliff Edwards made his last
album for Disney in 1956, but bentrecords seems to take that as Cliff's last
work for Disney. According to Eddie, Cliff's last recording for Disney--not an album, just some voice work--was done around 1970 or so--it was probably for the short "I'm No Fool with Electricity," btw. Eddie tells of testing for Jiminy in 1973 and being given a late Edwards voice track to emulate. He argued that it would be better to sound like a young Cliff than an older Cliff, and the Disney people eventually agreed. Eddie Carrol's website confirms that he's been doing Jiminy since '73:

I know this is much ado about a cricket, but hey, credit where cricket is due, right?[/url]
