Okay, so I'm no George Balzer.....
Jack's Christmas Dream
'Twas the night before Christmas, and all through Jack's house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
Rochester was nestled all snug in his bed,
While visions of pay raises danced in his head.
Jack was snuggled quite comfy and warm,
With no thought of suffering from cold or from storm;
When out on the roof there arose such a shout
That he sprang out of bed to yell, "Cut that out!"
He leapt to the window and threw open the sash,
Fearful that burglars were rifling his cash!
But outside he spied a figure rotund,
And bouncy and jolly, and it was St. Don!
He rode in a sleigh pulled by six tiny reindeer—
It flew through the sky as he called out with cheer:
"On, Cherry! On, Strawberry! On Lemon and Lime!
On Orange and Raspberry! We're making good time!"
Pinching himself—yes, he was awake—
Jack rushed down the stair. "Oh, for heaven's sake!"
Down the chimney bounced Don, Don his big self!
And behind him bounced Dennis, his helpful elf!
Dennis began to caper and prance,
Jack saw in a moment he'd forgotten his pants.
"Kid!" Jack yelled then, "Kid! Where's your slacks?"
"Ohhhhhhhhh…PANTS!" blushed Dennis (his typical act).
Jack fetched him some jammies—for just a small fee—
And then he watched Donsy put gifts 'neath the tree.
There was whiskey for Philsey, a fur wrap for Mary,
Throat spray for Mel, some fish for the bear he
Kept in the basement where no gas man would go,
Sunglasses for Ed in the vault down below,
Presents for all the cast and the crew,
But before Donsy and Dennis were through,
Jack went to the chimney, and straight up he rose!
"Lookit," he said, "a sleigh. I've always liked those!"
He climbed into the sleigh and yelled, "Let's begin!
Fly away, boys, or I'll play violin!"
Away they all flew like the down off a thistle!
Up in the sky Jack started to whistle!
But I heard him exclaim, ere he flew out of sight,
"Merry Christmas! We're a little late! So folks, good night!"
