I believe this show was the subject of a thread on the message boards here a couple of months ago. Chuck Schaden will be broadcasting the Jack Benny Program from February 24, 1946, the gang's response to Gilbert Seldes's criticism of the nastiness of the Benny show.
It will be the last program on Schaden's "Those Were the Days" radio program this Saturday. The entire Schaden program can be heard from 1:00-5:00 p.m. CDT in Chicago on WDCB-FM (90.9 MHz) or live online via RealAudio at http://www.wdcb.org.
The entire program also will be available via RealAudio for replay from June 21-27 on Schaden's Nostalgia Digest web site http://www.nostalgiadigest.com.
Looking ahead a week, Fred Allen fans (and we know who you are) can hear him and Portland Hoffa along with Jimmy Durante, Vivian Blaine, William Marshall, Jane Morgan, and Rudy Vallee with hostess Tallulah Bankhead (or as Mrs. Nussbaum might say Tu-la-lu-la-lu-lah Bankhead)on a recording of "The Big Show" from April 8, 1951. (Same ways of listening as for the Benny Show.) From the 90 minute length of the program, I'd guess they'd have to start the replay at around 3:00 p.m. CDT.
