Jack on the Merv Griffin DVD

Postby Brad from Georgia » Fri May 05, 2006 3:12 pm

The Merv Griffin Show: 40 of the Most Interesting People in the World features a very long interview with Jack on the "comedians" DVD (one of three). Jack discusses "Love in Bloom," his walk, and tells stories about his movies, George Burns, Fred Allen, and other topics. The footage is from 1973, and at least one of Jack's moments is priceless: Merv asks, "Do you remember the very first time you got a laugh?" I won't give away the biggest part of the bit, but at long length, Jack explodes, "I don't even remember the LAST time I got a laugh!" Good stuff.

Merv was interviewed tonite by Larry King about the shows. Merv looks pretty darn good for 80. He had a few quips himself, something like, "I smoke, drink, I'm overwieght - and all my diet doctors are dead." ha! Mike

Except for being overweight, he basically stole that joke from George Burns.

I didn't know Merv stole Burns' joke, but it was pretty funny the way he told it. Did you happen to see Larry's show? Merv usually bores me, but he was quite animated in this, and had a treasure trove of information to share about all the guests he had interviewed over the years. Mike
