Jack moves to Saturday night in Chicago

WWME-TV ("Me-TV" a low-power station operating on Channel 23) has been showing "black and white Sundays" this summer featuring the Alfred Hitchcock Hour, The Jack Benny Program, The George Burns and Gracie Allen Show, and The Phil Silvers Show. Part of that lineup has now moved to Sautrday nights, which at least makes it easier for me to watch since I don't have to stay up until 11:00 to see the end of George and Gracie.

Jack and George and Gracie have been flip-flopped so that Burns and Allen is now the lead-in at 10:00 p.m. for Jack at 10:30 p.m. The Burns and Allen shows right now are from 1954, and some of them even have kept the sponsor tags at the start and finish of the shows. Last week Gracie figured out that George had to be the one husband in five who has a secret vice.

Jack's shows now being shown are from 1962. Last week's episode had Jack dreaming that he was Alexander Hamilton, the first Secretary of the Treasury (with Don Wilson and Ben Franklin and, of course, Dennis Day as Aaron Burr).

If you're in the Chicago area and have Comcast digital cable, WWME is found on Channel 223.
