Disney news: The studio has set The Jungle Book: Platinum Edition for release on 10/2 (SRP $29.99). The 2-disc set will include anamorphic widescreen video (aspect ratio 1.75:1 - the first time the film has been presented on home video in its original aspect ratio), Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and an all-new 5.1 Disney-enhanced Home Theater Mix.

Extras will include audio commentary (with members of the original production team as well as current animators), 4 featurettes (including The Lost Character: Rocky the Rhino, Disney's Kipling: Walt's Magic Touch on A Literary Classic, The Lure of The Jungle Book and Mowgli's Return to the Jungle), The Bare Necessities: The Making of The Jungle Book documentary, an artwork gallery and the Baloo's Virtual Swingin' Jungle Cruise game (playable set-top and and via DVD-ROM).
