Story about Bob Hope and "flag from Hitler's bunker.&qu

A couple years ago I read a story (most likely in a forwarded email) that a Nazi flag found in Hitler's bunker had been given by U.S. Army personnel to Bob Hope. It sounded like "one of those stories"... that is, I oughta look at Snopes.com before accepting it as true.
I just got around to it... and my Snopes search, as well as several dozen results of Google searches, turn up no mention of the story.
Anyone know the facts? (Now that I think about it, I don't remember if it was the U.S. or the Russians who got there first.)
