does anybody listen to the "coast to coast am" radio show aka "C2C"? it's about anything end everything. tonite's (mon) was about the pyramids and egytptology, which i'm not usually into, but the guest was an unusually good one. the show is on over 500 radio stations in the USA and canada!, also on ch. 165 on xm, i think. the show is broadcast live 7 nites 10pm-2am pacific time, and 1am-5am eastern, and corresponding times zones in between. a lot of stations replay the show afterwards in entirety or partially. the original host was the late nite radio guru art bell, who is semi-retired. the weeknite host is george noory, with other guest hosts on weekends. this is a show that is all over the place, sometimes dumb and stupid, but at other times really intriguing and fascinating. you will never be the same after hearing C2C, lol. i think there is a list of stations in your area somewhere on the site. i think the show also streams on the internet. mike

Is this the old Art Bell show? If so my mom listens to it when she has trouble sleeping.

yes, it's the old art bell show. basically the same show with different hosts. and since i almost always have trouble sleeping, i usually listen, lol, (at least for a little while). and since the tv shows are the same old, same old, and bore me to death, C2C is a breath of fresh martian air, lol.

When I would work at night I listened to Art Bell sometimes, and I have heard the Coast To Coast AM program. My schedule does not allow me to listen as much as I would like, but I agree it is a good program.

AM radio has some gems that show up late at night or on the weekends.

I stopped listening some time back after about the 95th announcement that the World Was Going To End in xx days. I'm sure the large hadron collider produced at least one more doomsday prediction that I didn't hear.

Anyway, after a good number of doomsday predictions, I began to feel like the fellows in the old Peter Cook/Dudley Moore "end of the world" sketch: "Oh, well, same time tomorrow, fellows. We're sure to come up a winner some day."

I would occasionally catch Art Bell when I would do some AM DXing when I actually had a good radio to do that with. Usually the term "lunatic fringe" is applied to people with extreme political views, but his guests and callers redefined the term. Or maybe they were just raving lunatics.

well, brad, it may interest you to know that the world officially ends in 2012, as determined by the aztec (or is it the mayan?) calendar, lol.

jack's name was mentioned on the show tonite! debbie reynolds was interviewed and she spoke of jack as being one of many celebrities who appeared at benefits for the mental health clinic at cedars sinai hospital that she helped to form. as i said, you nevr know what subject will turn up on C2C :)

That is what made Art Bell's show so interesting late at night. UFO's and exposing conspiracies are always fun.

-I used to listen to people like Larry Glick at WBZ in Boston and Perry Marshall/John Cigna on KDKA Pittsburgh. I liked those shows. No paticular agenda, Just conversation on different subjects and having a little fun.

Apart from the "Raccoon Lodge", didn't Jackie Gleason have an interest in Outer Space, and UFOs?

December 21, 2012 to be exact...it's the Mayan calendar. And a few other things. So remember...pay by credit card starting about November 15, 2012!

Yes Jackie Gleason supposedly got to see recovered alien bodies, thanks to friend President Nixon.

Circa 1977 I listened a few times to Herb Jebco(sp?) late at night from Salt Lake City. A lot of seniors called in about nothing in particular. I remember one lady playing the piano over the phone for her five minute allotment. I wondered if the rest of her family was trying to sleep at the time.

I used to catch Herb Jepko's show (The Night Caps) in the mid-late '60s. They were on KSL, and were the most distant U.S. station I was able to pick up from 60 miles south of Chicago. It was definitely free form talk radio. I miss radio with a local flavor like that.

On a clear night I could pick up jazz from WHAM in Rochester (Artis Against the Night), News from KYW in Philadelphia, talk on WBZ in Boston and KDKA in Pittsburgh, a remote from a hotel (or recorded music from Edmond Souchon of the New Orleans Jazz Club) on WWL, and even "Music Museum" from CBW in Winnipeg and "Jazz: The Vintage Years" from CBK in Regina, Saskatchewan.

KFI Los Angeles just put up a replacement "big" tower, after several years using a smaller back up. (The previous "big" tower was knocked down by a private plane.)
I heard them asking for the most-distant listener (over-the-air) and the winner was in Missoula, Montana.
This new tower seems skinnier than the old one, except for a sort of disk at the top. I think they took their time about deciding whether to bother with erecting it, considering all the ways people are getting radio now rather than over-the-air.
