Far too many comic actors have passed away recently. And now we must sadly add Louis (pronounced "Louie") Nye to the list. The Internet Movie Database (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0638574/) lists his year of birth as 1922, while the one official obituary I've seen so far (http://www.courant.com/news/local/hce-louisnyeobit.oct10,0,1822632.story?coll=hc-headlines-local) lists it as 1913.
Although probably best known for his countless appearances in various Steve Allen programs (usually in his "Gordon Hathaway" persona ~~ "Hi ho, Steverino!") from the 1950s on up, he also had recurring roles on such shows as "The Beverly Hillbillies," "St. Elsewhere," "Curb Your Enthusiasm," and just enough appearances on "The Jack Benny Program" to give me an excuse to include this posting! (Louis and Jack both appeared in cameo roles in "A Guide for the Married Man" as well, but if memory serves, it was not in the same scene.)
