I'm not convinced that a show that did 2 performances nearly 3/4 of each year for nearly 20 years, then one show, would have reruns when transcriptions were available. This means that perhaps too many shows are marked as repeat broadcast of (snother date) in 39 forever vol 2.
The first ecample I'll submit for consideration is the show of 55/01/23.
I suggest it is NOT an exact rebroadcast of a previous show.
From the scripts.....(American tobacco archive copies)
55/01/23
Transcribed Jan 25, 1953
53/01/25
Transcribed Jan 22, 1953 on the top page, Jan 21, 1953 following pages
The are identical up 'till Dennis's segment (page 4 of script)
in 55...Dennis wants a rehearsal at his house
In 53... Dennis has a sandwich on his head
The vault lines are also different
in 55..my copy of the script is missing page 5 but there is an aligator bit on the file (3 walets and a belt)
At the end he just leaves.
in 53...much shorter trip to the vault, Jack gives Ed a Merilyn Monroe calendar and there is talk about the tv show on pages 7-8
For Dennis'a song...
in 53 outside of heaven
in 55 three coins in the fountain
My copy of 53 is an AFRS version, 55 network but I do have files that are similar to these differences in the scripts
From here, as the timeings are way off, there muct be differences in the 2nd routine but at this time I'm going on to other shows. My opinion there really weren't that many "rebroadcastrs" if any.
