The two Harris shorts that I've seen are little musical-comedies....much like the shorts that Bing Crosby made for Mack Sennett in the early 1930's.
Phil plays himself, and his character is much like his character when he first joined the Benny program in 1936.....not really an illiterate loudmouth, but more like a charming ladies' man.
There's a slight plot in each short....usually a "mistaken identity" plot, and Phil is usually going after some girl. During the story Phil will take time to sing a song here and there.
They're not GREAT shorts, but they're fun and pleasant....and it's interesting to see and hear Phil in his early days.
