Let's get "Jack Benny - The Complete First Season"

As much as I would like it on TV, I would prefer it on DVD. I personally would pay $100 per season to get this great show. It's a no brainer as far as re-releasing it goes. The first season only had 4 episodes. Get the kinescopes, charge $50 for one DVD called The Jack Benny Program Complete First Season and see how many of us run out and buy it. If they think it's a niche market, then charge more. Whatever the cost many of us will pay it. Each season after that would have a few more episodes, but for the first 5 years the series had very few episodes per year, which makes it ideal to release easily on a few DVDs for each season. Now who do we tell all this to?
Your pal,
Buck Benny

Who to tell

Well, this one isn't MCA, as they don't own those shows. First challenge is to find the kinescopes in a place where you'd be able to copy them. I'll be honest that not having that capability, I haven't paid a lot of attention to whether they might be in the UCLA or Wyoming collections. If they're in the Museum of Television and Radio (which at least some of them are...would have to pull my listing of their holdings to make sure), then you'll have to be Bill Gates to be able to afford to copy them (I tried to get a copy of the Waukegan TV show for the Waukegan Public Library, but no dice).

If I were you, I'd drop a line to Shokus Video. They've been the best at going out, finding, and publishing those early shows, and could probably give you the best feedback on the challenges of such a volume.

Shokus would be good resource. however i belive that CBS should release the first season on dvd seeing as how they started the show and that without benny CBS would not have been the most popular network in t.v.'s beginning
