I hate people who do this and now I'm one of them. :(

First of all, I want to commend you for preserving Jack Benny's history and continuing a dialogue about his many contributions to the entertainment field.

I joined because I need help to search some documents I have received. They are scripts from episodes #5 (Carol Channing, Lawrence Welk and the Lennon Sisters) and #12 (Robert Wagner/Natalie Wood).

I am trying to identify the person who actually used them. The pages are dog-earred and lines are circled where this person appears in the show. There is a name writen on one script - xxxx Stuart. In episode 5, he plays a chessplayer and in episode 12, he is Mr. Elliot.

I've googled for two days now and find nothing. Perhaps one of you dear people has a list of the cast members for these two shows?

All help is much appreciated.

What program is the "episode 5" script from? I know that Jack worked with all of those stars on different programs, but I am not sure which one features all of them. Is it a Shower of Stars episode?

I haven't seen the Benny program with Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood (yet), so I can't help you there. I anticipate such information will be in 39 Forever, Second Edition Volume 3, but that's a ways off. Are you in the vicinity of Los Angeles or New York and could look up the show at the Museum of Television and Radio?

Thank you for replying. Yes, episode 5 is the Shower of Stars and episode 12 is Playhouse 90.

Unfortunately I am in the middle of Minnesota and do not have access to any resources. Do you know if there is perhaps a reference book with this information in it? I want to sell the scripts on eBay and knowing who used them would be a great selling point. Do you think I could get the information if I called them?

Postby KM99 » Sun Mar 27, 2005 12:38 am

Ronifae, LL

The Playhouse 90 Script is actually a Jack Benny TV show script from March 6, 1960. In this show, Jack insists that CBS aloow him to direct a Playhouse 90 episode with Robert Wagner and Natalie Wood.

Other cast from this show include Harry Ellerbe , Ken Peters , Rodney Bell , Benny Rubin , and Kip Gates.

This show was episode 12 from that year, sponsored by Lever Brothers.
