The new Casablanca caps

Thanks bboswell and Laura! Very cool. Now you just need someone with that FBI face-recognition software to convice the last skeptics. Looks like Jack to me! Does anyone with expertise know exactly what kind of uniform Jack is wearing in that scene?

Thanks for the effort!!
Jack did appear in this scene, but I don't think this is Jack.

I think Jack appears for only a split-second, out of focus, and sits right next to the man pointed, wearing glasses.

You can see him in the caps too...

What do you think?

All I know is that the man pointed to looks nothing like Jack to my eyes. His face is different, and I don't think Jack could look that bland if he tried. I also lie the idea of Jack being somewhere else in the seen. I just don't think a director would sit Jack Benny in a spot that would be that distracting to movie goers. I mean Jack is huge at this time. Do you think that Johnny Carson would be put right behind the main action in Titanic...I don't think so.
Your pal,
Buck Benny

Casablanca...

I agree with preceding Caretaker and JB posts; i don't find that the pointed out actor looks like Jack Benny ....i'm actually surprised that some of you believe it does.

Also, i think JB makes a good point about the inappropriateness of placing a very well known face in the immediate background....and if i may add, especially becouse this was a serious drama with "A" budgets and actors.....(yes, its a quick shot, but on the big screen, even a background face could be noticable enough to register with some audience members)

When TCM showed Casablanca several weeks ago, I looked for Benny, and could have sworn that the person pointed out here was him. My wife thought it was, too. The only shot that doesn't look like Jack in the stills here is the profile shot, but that could be because of a lack of resolution around his nose.

As far as the inappropriateness, etc., he was very much in the background of the shot with all kinds of action in the foreground as the movie actually plays. In addition, tell that to Alfred Hitchcock.
