Rochester singing with Lena Horne

Postby LLeff » Mon May 03, 2004 8:29 pm

One of the members E-mailed me a while back about seeing a show on PBS about the making of V-Discs during WWII, and it included a clip of Eddie Anderson singing with Lena Horne. Has anyone else seen this? Do you know what show it was on, or by chance get a copy of it?

Good question. Here's the text from the original E-mail:

"I just saw a marvelous film clip about the makeing of Victory records
for GI's....this included a bit with Rochester and Lena Horne singing
the song..."Old Devil Consequence"...I may be inexact with the
title...but when you hear Rochester sing the chorus....you better get
back. Well, I can't seem to get the thing out of my mind....Lena was
having trouble just standing up near Rochester when he sang....an
unreal sound....and a perfect song for him...."

I hadn't thought about "Cabin in the Sky", but you may be right. Haven't seen the movie in a while...does this sound familiar?

I hope that everyone's had a chance to see this clip (I think it's the one in question, but am waiting for confirmation from the original requestor) under our Featured Items on the www.jackbenny.org homepage. I'm just going to have it up for a while, because I need to insure that our data transfer rates don't go too high! :)
