Ack! I missed this one!

I was out of town Saturday and missed this, but I'll be listening tomorrow, and you can access it before Tuesday (July 3).

On Saturday's "Those Were the Days" show, Chuck Schaden included "Mail Call" episode #135 (3/7/45) featuring Jack, Paulette Goddard, Claudette Colbert, Jeanne Crain, Jinx Falkenberg, the Andrews Sisters, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, Frank Nelson, and John Brown.

The plot: Jack is planning on attending the premier of "The Horn Blows at Midnight" and is looking for a date.

Gangbusters(6/12/48): "The Case of the Park Avenue Pilferers"
Cavalcade of America (5/19/37): "Thomas A. Edison, the Man"
Then comes the Mail Call show. Following Jack:
Kraft Music Hall (10/21/48): Al Jolson and Oscar Levant. Jolson doing what he did best: taking requests from the audience.
Life with Luigi (1/9/49): Starring J. Carol Naish and Alan Reed (aka Fred Flintstone for the younger set).
The Shadow (1/19/41): "The Shadow Challenged," with Bill Johnstone and Marjorie Anderson as Lamont Cranston and "the lovely Margo Lane."

There's a lot of Benny without Benny coming up later this summer. Schaden will be playing the episodes of the Benny show where Jack was ill with pneumonia and Burns and Allen and Orson Welles subbed as hosts.

In fact he'll be devoting a couple of episodes to shows where the stars are absent.
